This paper will attempt to describe the history of the Washington Cathedral as an educational force, as provided for by its charter; to criticize certain facets of the Cathedral's educational function as this investigation proceeds in the chapters; and, in conclusion, to make some estimate of the Cathedral as an educational foundation. The thesis has been divided into tow parts: the first part discusses historically the educational function of the Washington Cathedral as seen from a spiritual approach; the second part discusses historically the educational function of the Cathedral as seen from a temporal approach.
