Upward mobility within a profession

Upward mobility has often been treated in published literature in terms of leadership. An adequate investigation of the phenomenon, therefore, might well begin with a review of the leadership studies. The leadership literature has been examined by the present investigator, and many specific findings have been noted. The problem has been found to be extremely complex. The text that follows this introductory chapter will present the results of an investigation of some aspects of this problem, as they were found relating to one particular professional group.
