This study seeks to understand the role of civil society in the peace process of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The inclusion of civil society in peace processes at various phases had become a topic of increasing study within the field of conflict resolution. This study will look for the presence, absence or emergence of these roles among Kivutien civil society. The study will also examine how the nature of civil society affects its participation in the peace process. Semi-structured interviews were used to conduct the study. The results show that due to differences in the nature of Kivutien civil society it has taken limited roles in the Congolese peace process.
