Travel study courses offered by American colleges and universities: Their types and numbers, with a statement of some of their educational values

In a general sense the term "travel-study course" refers to any tour, regardless of length, area visited, or sponsoring organization, which has as its objective the acquisition of knowledge rather than simple enjoyment for its own sake. Specifically, however, this paper deals with such tours as are offered by colleges and universities for academic credit, graduate or undergraduate.
