Torch is an original novel in twenty-three chapters. The novel is narrated by the title character, a twenty-two-year-old serial arsonist in her last year of college in Boston. Torch's unconfessed attraction to her friend Drew leads her to set buildings on fire whenever she sees him with another woman. Torch must keep her secret from Drew as well as their friends Nina and Morgan, which becomes increasingly difficult as her jealousy grows stronger and the fires more frequent. The novel tells Torch's story while touching on the themes of friendship, family, isolation, psychology, secrets, lies, identity, intelligence, obsession, honesty, and the erotic power of fire.
