The poems of This Breaking are songs of sorrow and of joy, often, simultaneously. Concerned with the exclusivity and rarity of a moment, these are poems of loss, but not loss toward loss, but lost toward gain. The project of these poems lies in the transformation of their subjects, both on the page and in the reader, by offering the question: is a breaking a breaking or simply a building?
