About one-fifth of what the average American family spends for food is spent for milk and the various products made from milk. A large percentage of farmers get a part of their cash incomes from the sale of dairy products. All dairy farmers depend upon the dairy herd for a large part of their cash incomes. Many dairy farmers and most manufacturers and distributers of dairy products depend upon the dairy cow for the incomes that support their families. All American people are, therefore, vitally interested in the dairy cow and in the trend of the dairy industry.
