The first wave
The First Wave is a collection of fiction and nonfiction works focused on immigration, innocence, identity, family, relationships, war, and death. With a tilt towards my fictional leanings in the second half of the manuscript, the creative essays in this collection explore my formative years as a first-generation American raised by refugee parents before, during, and after my service in the Marine Corps. Regardless of genre, The First Wave carries readers through a poignant array of experiences that show the compelling nature of our collective struggle to overcome and grapple with life’s many adversities. The two parts unite through a narrative force dedicated to unearthing hidden emotions buried beneath the soil of our human growth. This collection of short stories and creative essays embody the first wave of my life.
