The effect of Jewish fundamentalism on the peace process
One of the most controversial issues confronting Israeli society today is the increasing influence of the Jewish fundamentalist movements. The primary objective of these movements is comprehensive Jewish settlement of the West Bank and Gaza. They vehemently oppose all "land for peace" proposals and continually espouse the ideas of a "Greater Israel." This thesis will explore the emergence and increasing influence of two of the most prominent fundamentalist movements--Kach and Gush Emunim--and will discuss their roles in both Israeli politics and in the international community. It will also concentrate on the cause/effect relationship between "peace" and "fundamentalist" movements. Finally, it will analyze the effect of Jewish Fundamentalism on the peace process.
