Recent advancements in computer hardware and software have made advanced information technology available to more organizations than ever before. Also, there is a growing number of organizations that consist of multiple work sites. Technology that was considered state-of-the-art yesterday is commonplace today, enabling organizations to share and exchange data within and between different work sites. However, the knowledge required to successfully use this technology to develop a well-planned information system is not commonplace. This thesis examines topics that must be addressed and analyzed in order to develop a successful information system. The performance of a critical case study was used to determine the outcome. For organizations with multiple work sites, it was determined that hardware and software standards should be established and adhered to by each site.
