Evidence of an intensified interest in dependent peoples, of an increased sense of responsibility of administering powers for their economic and social advancement and of the feasibility of international cooperation to this end is to be found in the establishment of the South Pacific Commission. The membership of the Commission is made up of six governments which administer or non-self-governing territories in the South Pacific region--Australia, France, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
