The Round House Theatre provides a study of the development of a theatre managed and funded through a municipal government system. This theatre is historically important to the regional theatre movement because it was developed in a manner completely unlike the majority of regional theatres. This study of the manner in which the Round House came into existence and how it became a leading theatre in the Washington, D.C. area provides insight into the possibility of establishing similar theatres in other areas of the United States. This thesis chronicles the development of the Round House Theatre and provides a study on the feasibility of regional theatre and municipal government partnerships.
