The Philosophical and Educational Backgrounds of Germany's Pre-War Nationalism

History shows that there have really been two Germanys-the one of the past, whose priceless contributions were given to the world by German genius,-of her painters, her musicians, her poets, her philosophers, her scientists and inventors, and her educators. Then there is that new, changed, and unified Germany of the century or so just preceding the World War, during which the people became of one mind, one spirit, and one heart, saturated with Prussianism.
