The Overall Factors that Inhibit the Professional Development of Chinese Jingdezhen Ceramic Artists
This paper concentrates on the study of the factors that inhibit the professional development of Jingdezhen ceramic artists in China, especially in terms of marketing and communication, by integrating research, surveys, interviews, and analysis to understand how they become professional ceramic artists, and how they promote their arts in the ceramic community. The paper points out the factors that prevent Jingdezhen ceramic artists from fully engaging in marketing. They include the absence of a mature marketing mindset and adequate marketing skills. It concludes with the suggestions to develop a marketing mindset, establish a strategic marketing plan, learn from other mature arts markets, strengthen the relationship with government-affiliated arts organizations, and credit images and publications on all occasions.
