Mankind is laying great emphasis on the investigating of material things and not enough comparatively on the study of thought. As a result, we are on the material side outrunning the spiritual to the peril of morals. In view of the tremendous changes the impact of Western civilization has recently made in China, it is especially fitting that an inquiry be made into the relative value of the MORAL IDEALS OF CONFUCIUS AND Of JESUS; for Confucius has been the great teacher in morals for the Chinese and Jesus for the Western nations that have brought this civilization to China. These two great teachers stand preeminent in the moral realm, 1) for their ideals, and 2) for the numbers whom their teaching has influenced.
