The Monetary System of French Morocco

The idea of a State Bank, to perform in Morocco what in modern terminology would be called central banking functions, was first conceived in 1904, at a time when the Sultanate was seriously involved in political and financial difficulties and France was trying to gain influence over the country.Monetary disorder and political restlessness were not new evils in the history of Morocco.
