The McKinley/Penn Radio Production Project: A study of the partnership between National Public Radio and McKinley/Penn High School
This thesis analyzes the planning and implementation of the McKinley/Penn Radio Production Project, an educational partnership between McKinley/Penn High School in Washington D.C. and National Public Radio. Research for this thesis included interviews with key individuals from National Public Radio, McKinley/Penn High School, Howard University, and the Discovery Channel. National Public Radio is a private, non-profit membership organization and provider of radio programming. McKinley/Penn High School is one of 13 comprehensive high schools in Washington D.C., and the communications magnet school for the District. The results of this thesis reveal the importance of educational partnerships between cultural organizations and public schools, and outlines essential steps for the implementation of educational partnerships.
