The question of maintenance of farm income in the United States has since the late 1920's assumed an increasing importance and a succession of farm programs has since been enacted. The trend of farm income has been taken as one of the signposts by which we predict the trend of the economy of the country as a whole. Thus, while today there are many who object to certain methods of rendering assistance to farmers, there are few who would go so far as to seek abandonment of the whole farm program.
