The Jar-Born Sage
Jasmine Rucker, the protagonist of this original novel, is a sculptor who has had significant problems with depression in the past. She has just managed to reach a point of stability in her life when she receives a disturbing letter from her Aunt Eva, a paranoid schizophrenic who disappeared two years ago during a psychotic episode. As the letter reveals, her aunt is clearly in the throes of the most dangerous psychotic break to date. Eva has come to believe that neo-Nazis are infecting cloned embryos with various mental illnesses. Fear for her aunt's safety and concerns about her own sanity, prompt Jasmine to begin an obsessive search for Eva. As she delves deeper into her Aunt's psychosis, Jasmine begins to face the demons of her own depressive episodes, as well as the nature of her emotional and genetic relationship with Eva.
