These stories are composed of the tiny elements of the lives of people who are less than perfect, but somehow more whole because of their flaws. The collection attempts to treasure the marginalized, aged, or taken-for-granted among us. Several of the stories revolve around young girls in their not yet broken shells and their struggles to mend and restore balance to their fragile lives. At the core of each of them is a paradox that acknowledges the beauty of damaged lives---the old Hasidic saying: 'There is nothing more whole than a broken heart.'.
