This study is concerned with the management of information as a means of improving interdepartmental coordination. The problem is a large one, and it seems fair to approach it from any point that permits concentration upon lesser aspects provided they relate to the total. The writer's approach has been that of surveying the joint experience of several federal agencies brought together by a common requirement of keeping abreast of developments in foreign areas occupied by the United States as the consequence of being a victorious power in World War II.
