The History of Us

"The History of Us" is an original, creative work of nonfiction. The work is seven chapters that explore the relationships I have been involved in throughout my life. Five of the chapters investigate my relationship with friends and family members and how they evolved and in some cases, ended. The other two chapters deal with my relationship to the places that have defined who I am today; the different houses I've lived in and the swimming pools I've trained and competed in. The writing of this piece was sometimes difficult, but ultimately cathartic. I learned about myself: how I have changed through different periods in my life and how the different relationships in my life have made me, me.
