The Good Neighbor Policy: Diplomatic Origins and Development to 1948

The Good Neighbor Policy specifically enunciated and implemented during the Presidential administration of Franklin D. Roosevelt constitutes an important pillar in the total structure of American foreign policy. Strictly interpreted it applies primarily to United States relations with other countries of the Western Hemisphere since 1933.
