But irrespective of the accuracy of any specific speculation as to future uses, the total funds appropriated to the atomic energy program through June 30, 1953, amounted to $12.1 billion, and the Atomic Energy Commission reported an equity as of that same date of $7.7 billion not including inventories of source and fissionable materials and weapons components.
