The Development of Port of Norfolk

The purpose of this dissertation is to set forth as clearly as possible the development of the Fort or Norfolk from the first settlement to the present, with an understanding of its past, as well as an explanation of great future possibilities.While the subject of this dissertation does not occupy a position in an entirely new field, it has not been treated adequately in the past, and facts have not been brought together in clear and intelligible form. This has made it necessary in many instances to draw much date from material dealing principally with other subjects.
