This study is presented in order to give grounds for the inclusion of dancing as an elective part of the girls' Physical Education departments of our large city high schools. The writer's experience has led to the belief that such a study of the dance may be of considerable value. This conviction is supported by the fact that the dance includes rhythm, that the dance has an enviable historical background, and that it is beneficial physically, mentally, and morally to the interested adolescent girl.
