The Constitutional Relation of the Philippine Islands With the United States

The United States acquired the Philippine Islands under the Treaty of Paris between the United States and Spain signed on December 10, 1898, whereby Spain transferred all her rights over the Philippines Islands to the United States, the latter agreeing to pay to Spain the sum of $20,000,000. The ratifications were exchanged by the two countries on the 11th of April, 1899.
