The Constitution of the Fourth French Republic as Affected by the Resistance Movements

This paper is an attempt to survey the more important political groups that influenced the formation of the Fourth French Republic and its constitution; through this study it is hoped an insight will be gained into the recurring problem of French political life and the attitudes of various French groups toward these problems.In order to do this, it will first be necessary to survey the political institutions of the Third Republic with special emphasis on their effects. Following this will be a survey of the French Resistance Movement during World War II with the purpose of showing the significance of the occupation in French political life and how the French various political groups felt about the Third Republic as well as their plans for post-war France.
