The primary purpose in preparing this thesis was to show the processes and procedures which have been utilized by the Federal Government in dealing with conscientious objectors to military service in the armed forces of the United States. More attention has been given to the procedures employed and the treatment accorded conscientious objectors during the period of World War II, which was our last major war, and required general mobilization of our manpower.
