The Choral Society of Washington, D.C., 1883-1911

The purpose of this study is to relate the history and seasonal activities of the musical organization known as The Choral Society of Washington D.D. In recent years, there has been a trend, in the field of American musicology, to bring to light the existence of early civic music groups, and to verify their cultural value to a community in their own era.
