THE MEANING AND FUNCTION OF THE NATIONAL ACCOUNTSThe national accounts of Canada are designed to depict the economic flows generated in the major sectors of the economy and their distribution among the major end users of national economic product. The concepts involved in these accounts are not new, for the notion of tabulating a nation's economic flows dates back to the Mercantilist School in England and the Physiocrats in France.
