THE ORDER OF PROTECTION
The Order of Protection is a work of original fiction that focuses on intercultural communications seen through a messy interracial marriage set in New York City. The narrative illustrates an observation by C. S. Lewis who writes that, “We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with worldly ambitions when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are easily pleased.” Or easily deceived, we might add; deceived into thinking, like the protagonist of this story, that we have the right to conquer the world.
