Analogs of N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide, DEET, a common mosquito repellent, were synthesized in preparation for incorporation into a polymer. This polymer is designed with the belief that it might possess insect deterring properties and thus could be used to protect people from insect bites and diseases transmitted by insects.
