"Swimming Upstream" consists of five original stories, each of which involves characters grappling with the price of memory and/or authenticity, often in foreign environments. At times, the new worlds in which they find themselves have a direct bearing on their Jewish heritage. In many cases, they have sought solace in artistic expression. These characters are not wallflowers. They are all passionate people, however misguided, and to a certain extent, whether they know it or not, are all waiting for a redemption that, according to their tradition, has not yet arrived.
