With shoes, symbols of our journey, and sheets, the skins of our dream life, we enter into this collection of poems. Still Life with Shoes and Sheets offers poems of varying voice and form to recognize the breadth of our tawdry appetites, our crippling fears. Just as the painter uses still life to tell an invisible story, uses the sections of an orange, to imply the hand that peeled them, the mouth that will water for them---; these poems offer our origin, our end, by depicting who we are, presently.
