Spastic is a collection of original personal essays about the author's experience with Cerebral Palsy, a disability caused by her premature birth. The work retells the experience of falling down, getting up, and moving forward through life with "a broken body." Through the lens of this body, the author examines the themes of falling, self-perception, public misconception, sex, sexuality, and a variety of relationships that create a dialogue with the able-bodied world. This is a text that examines social constructs, both real and imagined, and how to walk through them.
