The laboratory value of the State for students of government is evident. The Nebraska electorate, by adopting an amendment establishing a unicameral legislature, has placed that state in a position to determine, at least to some extent, the validity of arguments which have accumulated over a considerable period in regard to the structure of legislative assemblies. This study will attempt to analyze the growth of the unicameral idea and the reasons for its acceptance in Nebraska, suggesting the tests a unicameral legislature must face and determining, if possible, the applicability to other states of those factors which led to its adoption in Nebraska.
