Scientific Research and the Federal Government

The results of scientific research and scientific research as a technique of civilization have had such profound effects on the social and economic structures of our western civilization that within the past several decades governments of the principal world powers have been forced to come to positive grips with this burgeoning social force. The nature and degree of positiveness of the governmental actions has naturally differed from country to country. This paper is concerned with the manner in which the Federal Government of the United States has dealt with scientific research.
