Toulouse-Lautrec's intriguing biography often eclipses his art in effect detracting from his many artistic achievements, many wholly unrelated to his famous posters that celebrate Parisian nightlife. As an artist who struggled with physical deformities, alcoholism, and syphilis, he led a tumultuous lifestyle. During the course of his artistic career, Toulouse-Lautrec, hailing from an aristocratic family from the south of France, executed a number of paintings and lithographs that reveal the interior world of women.
