Recounting

Recounting is an original novel about an elderly man's lifelong desire to experience what it truly means to be emotionally and physically "at home." After forty-two years of marriage, Jacob Miller decides to leave the wife he both pities and despises, Leah, to return to Rachel, the woman he fell in love with when he was a young Army private stationed in Germany. As he counts down the minutes to his scheduled departure, Jacob's memories of his abusive childhood, his mother's murder at the hands of his father, his relationship with Rachel, and his life with Leah all collide and force him to question everything he knows about life, love, and home.
