This study was undertaken in an effort to evaluate the role that the American Labor Press has played in promoting understanding of the Economic Cooperation Administration movement, and support for it, among organized workers. The ECA movement, in its efforts both to rehabilitate Europe and to reduce the danger of the spread of Communist ideology in Western Europe, has been a major force in shaping recent history, and to the development and establishment of ECA the American labor movement contributed both support and actual assistance, in part through its specialized press.
