Reading is a study of one of three fundamental aspects of general learning. The writer as a teacher of languages has had to face innumerable difficulties in her work due to the fact that many pupils displayed deficiencies in the reading process. Therefore, she undertook a study of twenty three pupils who were having difficulty with their school work in general to determine the fact whether or not poor reading ability might not be a contributing factor. Out of the twenty three, all of whom were boys, the writer found fifteen who went below the Median for Ninth Grade pupils. All twenty three were subjected to diagnostic measures, but only the results of the fifteen who went below the Median are given an individual study in this Thesis.
