Prophetic dance based on Christian religious beliefs: A form used to communicate divine revelation to people
This thesis examines Prophetic Dance, one of the many diverse forms of spiritual dance. Prophetic Dance is a vehicle used by God to communicate revelation to people through movement. My approach is to first show how Prophetic Dance parallels certain aspects of Prophetic Ministry. This is a form of Christian ministry that serves people by communicating divine revelation. Next is an analysis of how the dancer receives the revelation, how it is interpreted and how it is manifested through movement. Then there is a contrast between Sacred and Prophetic Dance to illustrate the difference in communication. There is also a review of the preparation and training of the prophetic dancer. To emphasize the significance of this form of dance I will show the usefulness and its values to the worship service and the congregation. I argue that Prophetic Dance is an authentic form of communicating divine revelation to people.
