Contract Bridge is a game of cards wherein the outcome is dependent upon the player's skill in analyzing situations based on chance occurrences. The fact that it is a game between opposing interests brings Game Theory into optimum play. (Optimum is defined as the method which has the greatest expectation of success.) Whenever chance plays a major role in any scientific investigation, the Theory of Probability applies to its utmost. The integration of both mathematics and statistics into the realm of card play is the foundation upon which this thesis rests.
