Prix-Fixe
Prix-Fixe is an original collection of poems intended for consumption. The sections represent the elements of any elegant meal, progressing from amuses-bouche to salad, salad to entree, and entree to dessert, with a variety of options for each. Amuses-bouche starts things off with a crisp and light preview of tastes, playing with rhyme and form. Salad contains a combination of seemingly disparate flavors, with multiple persona poems creating a healthy mix. Entree offers something a bit more substantial, with three series re-examining classic texts. Dessert is a brief but rich conclusion to the meal, providing three perspectives on the confusing but inevitably savory path of a poet. Just as a prix-fixe menu offers the diner a number of choices to make, so too do these poems offer the reader a series of choices: what to believe, what to remember, and how to determine which truths have only ever been half-told.
