Postwar Programs of Information About the U.S. Merchant Marine

Few aspects of merchant marine policy have been more roundly and constantly criticized than the public information programs. They have been charged with being nonexistent, inadequate, unrealistic, propagandist, and ineffectual. Even their defenders admit at least the inadequacy. Yet almost all merchant marine supporters give at least lip service to the necessity and importance of such programs.
