The quality and tenacity of the bonds of friendship that link the Philippines to the United States is well known to the American public. Only the student of current events, however, is aware of existing irritants in Philippine-American relationship. The writer, a Filipino student, would like to draw attention in this study to the causes of friction between the two countries. His purpose is not to sow seeds of discord, nor to justify or defend a side, but rather to emphasize the fact that these two countries had and will continue to have problems to test their partnership. But because their relationship is founded on mutual trust and loyalty, they have and will always be able to resolve their difficulties satisfactorily.
