Performance Standards as a Technique of Management Improvement

The need for management improvement never diminishes; it constantly increases. Changing world conditions and the advanced stages of the physical sciences make it mandatory for management to "keep pace," or at the least, "follow suit." The use of old methods of thought and outmoded techniques of management to cope with our highly developed industries is sheer economic waste. Therefore management, regardless of what level of operation, or the size of the establishment, must be ever alert to develop and refine its methods and techniques; to revise and redefine its concepts and principles; and to encourage and sponsor research in order to take its place along with the other sciences and professions.
