Patterns

This collection of short stories follows characters living in Los Angeles. There are two narrative threads at work here: (1) one documents the life of an unnamed character grappling with neurological and eye disorders; (2) and the other trails a narrator growing up and leaving southern California. For the most part, the brain/vision thread employs distant third-person omniscience, while the second is retrospective and personal. Many characters show an appreciation for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
