Past Perfect Present Progressive. (Original writing)
The stories in this collection are representative of the work that I have done over the past two years. They range in subject from two sisters struggling to understand each other to one woman's developing relationship with the tumor growing in her abdomen. Each in its own way, however, deals with our relationship to ourselves and our history: the past and present that make up what we are today, and our efforts--successful and unsuccessful--to reconcile that history with the inevitable fact that we must now move forward into the future. The irony of fiction is its attempt to reflect and represent reality, and this collection is my attempt to show that our realities are made up of similar moments, emotions, and images. I would like my readers to find more than pleasure or sympathy in my work. I would like them to recognize a part of themselves in it.
